Catherine Gilmartin Isle of Man

Catherine Gilmartin

Catherine is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. Having trained at one of Ireland’s top law firms she qualified as an Irish solicitor in 2004 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2010. Since qualifying Catherine has practised exclusively in the area of private client law and has gained significant experience across both jurisdictions. After relocating to the Isle of Man, Catherine joined Long and Humphrey in 2017.

Catherine specialises in all areas of private client estate planning: including wills, the transfer of assets within and outside the family (by gift or inheritance), trusts, the administration of estates and related taxation issues. Catherine is very experienced in dealing with estates and succession planning matters that have complex multi-jurisdictional angles. As she is dual qualified, Catherine has a particular interest in assisting and advising expatriates who, like her, have chosen the Isle of Man as home. Catherine also advises executors, trustees and beneficiaries on all contentious probate and trust issues.

Catherine’s practice further extends to advising individuals and families on enduring powers of attorney, issues affecting elderly and vulnerable clients, as well as advising charities and non-profit organisations.

Catherine is an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute, a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and also a Chartered Accountant (non-practising). She is currently studying for her STEP qualification.
