Since qualifying as an advocate in 1993 Rob has become one of the Island’s leading litigators. He tends to specialise in commercial litigation cases particularly those involving corporate disputes, insolvency, and asset tracing / recovery. He also advises upon corporate governance and re-organisations.
He is a popular choice for banks and fiduciary institutions seeking advice in respect of contentious issues and has acted for many Manx and UK government departments and bodies.
Rob has lectured in Europe on remedies available to prevent international fraud and in connection with co-operation between jurisdictions. He contributed to FT Law & Tax’s “International Tracing of Assets” wrote a chapter for “Cross-Border Judicial Cooperation in Offshore Litigation” regarding the Island’s ability to provide assistance in multi-jurisdictional corporate insolvency situations.
For a number of years Rob has been recommended in the major legal directories. According to Legal 500 2010 “he is a ‘fantastic’, ‘very capable lawyer'” whereas the 2011 edition describes him as “one of the Island’s most experienced litigation lawyers”. In Chambers and Partners UK and Global Guides he is listed in “Band 1” in dispute resolution. In the 2008 Guides Rob was recommended for being “excellent in both his mastery of briefs and the way he can structure documentation” and his “logical and intelligent viewpoint”, whilst 2009 editions state that he is a “very effective advocate “who “impresses clients with ‘the speed that he grasps complicated issues – and whenever he speaks invariably worth listening to him’ “.
