Since qualifying as an advocate in 1993 Rob has become one of the Island's leading litigators. He tends to specialise in commercial litigation cases particularly those involving corporate disputes, insolvency, and asset tracing / recovery. He also advises upon corporate governance and re-organisations.
He is a popular choice for banks and fiduciary institutions seeking advice in respect of contentious issues and has acted for many Manx and UK government departments and bodies.
Rob has lectured in Europe on remedies available to prevent international fraud and in connection with co-operation between jurisdictions and contributed a chapter to FT Law & Tax's "International Tracing of Assets".
He has just provided a chapter for "Cross-Border Judicial Cooperation in Offshore Litigation" (ed Kawaley and others) regarding the Island's ability to provide assistance in multi-jurisdictional corporate insolvency situations.
For a number of years Rob has been recommended in the major legal directories. Legal 500 2010 edition states "he is a 'fantastic', 'very capable lawyer'". In Chambers and Partners 2008 UK and Global Guides he was described as "excellent in both his mastery of briefs and the way he can structure documentation” and his "logical and intelligent viewpoint", whilst in the 2009 edition he is listed as a "leader" in dispute resolution who is a "very effective advocate" who "impresses clients with 'the speed that he grasps complicated issues – and whenever he speaks invariably worth listening to him'".
